The reason we’re only getting monster skinny houses in the city is because this is the only way for a developer to make any money. We need to reduce the cost of building here. It costs thousands less to build a house and connect it to utilities on a farmer’s field than it does anywhere in ward 7. If the city wants to see reasonable infill we need to offer financial incentives to make this possible. We also need to make dealing with the city easier. If a developer has to sit on a property for 6 months waiting for a permit it is a significant disincentive to build here.
